Natural Herbal Tea ~ Fatty Liver

In my list of herbal tea remedies, "herbal Tea Treatment" comes easily in preparation to brew varies in favor and choice of therapeutic effects. other than cooking medicinal plant and herbs, simmer a pot of “Herbal Tea” with flora tea, herbs and medicinal leaves which has been widely used in ancient time and among Chinese. Every sip of my herbs tea I think of its benefits and of course their side effect too.

With my daily routine and hectic work pressure, unwind with herbal tea brews in variety of blends accordingly to revitalize my physical body is set as habit. Make sure daily and regularly with a cup of delicious blend of favorite choices, place a pot of flora or herbal ingredients in infuser, brew with boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes. Simple thing as that, then call it a day with wonderful brews of herbal infusion. It is simply comforting thought and indulgences….Tea Time!

Enjoy a day taking alternative healing herbs for health, and beauty not only by its pleasant aroma taste, also as a remedy for health disorders. Still it needs a proper healthy living, herbs and sufficient rest and exercise to stand a good chance of beating and safeguard to keep sicknesses at bay.

One of my friend used to tell me that sleep late will eventually suffer of Liver disease or sickness. I know my sleeping routine is bad partly due to my work. No doubt late sleep may affect my health in long term. Still I managed to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sufficient sleep for years. Moreover it’s not a problem to me I guess.

But in Chinese “meridian” circulation system said our body has a “circadian clock” from 1am to 3am that schedule to detoxify and process the debris from our liver. Since late sleep during that hour may cause damage to the liver. I Think I am forced to choose between earlier sleeping method and stop working late to start a regular routine for beauty and health sake. That I promised myself I will do so and need to make it as a good sleeping habit. First thing first, is to banish my TV, works and computer out of bedroom then.

Liver is our body biggest organ. Maintain and protect our liver in good functioning and healthy is not easy. To prevent damages to our Liver, from awareness to prevention of taking the right foods, drinks and medicine plays an important role. Other than this,being overworked, irregular and unhealthy eating habits of junk foods, and stress may cause damages to our liver easily too. If eating too much of fatty foods, heavy drinking of alcohol, endocrine system disorders, obesity may also cause Fatty Liver disease.

Personally, however I prefer to use the some herbal raw ingredients that allow me to combine with other ingredients into different herbal infusion for different purpose. Some taste just nice, some actually very good to combat the heat in the body for flu and cold symptoms.

Like the combination Shan Zha herbal infusion I had mentioned about Herbal Infusion for slimming, beauty and menstrual cycle” earlier,

is quite a good alternative home remedy ingredient, I added Shan zha to cook soup, make herbal tea for weight lost, also reduce painful menstrual cramps and other woman’s menstruation syndrome.

Not only that, “Shan Zha” also has the effective alleviation in treating high blood pressure, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels that deposited in the body.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and diabetes runs in my family is quite high. That’s what I always conscious about and taking care of. Ingredients to prepare:

Rosebuds or Rose Petal
s 3-5g
• Chrysanthemum
• Shan Zha dried fruit 2g

• 2 tbs. of brown sugar (optional)
• 500 ml of boiling water


1. Wash all ingredients ready for use.

2. Place all ingredients into infuser with candle.
3. Pour in hot boiling water
. Simmer for 10 to 20 minutes and serve warm.

Also known as Fructus Crataegi, is a herbal medicine and great cleansing tea for promotes heart and circulation system to treat pain when blood is stasis. The channel acts on spleen, stomach and liver. It aids digestive system and relieving stagnated foods and inducing appetite.

Healthy Beets Figs Homemade Jam

I discovered taking organic fresh and nature best food like black olives from a friend's organic fruit farm is really excitement to me. 

Not only that, this wonderful friend of mine having many types of fruit trees in his fruit farm. 

I started making pickles and simple cooking of fresh olive with all sorts of fresh Olive recipes and try to do it in different methods.
Again more variety of fruits like Figs, Longan and Durians. With the EM Microbes enzymes organic fertilizer this year really a fruitful harvest year to him. 

Last week I brought some fresh figs to start writing something new recipes for my blog. I rarely see fresh figs selling in the grocery store. Last time we can only buy and used dried figs to cook soup, making salad and fruit wine, pickle or dried it as snack, it is ideal for making dessert and fruit jam.

I know the figs having great value of therapeutic benefits for our human body. I like Figs sweet flavor and its great color. But this figs do not taste good. 

At first I do not know what to do with this small quantities of fig. It looks beautiful in dark red color. So I just keep it in refrigerator for 2 days, I know it can't keep for long there. Out of sudden I got my hands on of making my own homemade fruit jam with it. Beetroot combined with Figs the red dramatically in color combination really makes me feeling yummy.

Beets fig Jam
  • 2 beets
  • 10 figs
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp of Maltose or malt sugar
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup of water

1. Peels beets skin, wash figs and remove stems and bottom of the fig, and cut into small pieces.

2. Squeeze Lime and Orange Juice and set aside ready for use. Keep the orange peel and cut into thin slices.

3. Add water, sugar and malt sugar to fig, and bring to boil for 20 minutes, stirring
until sugar dissolves.

4. Heat slowly to boil. Remove from heat. Set aside and let it cool then blend it with blender.

5. After blended into puree, pour it back to pot adds in Lime juice, Orange juice and orange peel slices and cook for a further 20 minutes until consistency of the fig and beets mixtures turn thicken.

6. Let it cool then fill into sterilized jars.

Why used orange peel slices for beets and figs jam

I choose beets, figs and orange that really makes wonder flavors and color for all in one tasty fruit jam. It’s just brilliant and delicious taste. Beetroot is wonderful cleansing and blood tonic. Figs also claims to be one of the blood building diet and purifier for energy and vital. This jam serve with toast really increased my appetite.

The taste of beets and figs both are slighly sweetened stuff, adding in orange juice and orange peel slices creates a little bit of sweet sour in taste, also balance the sweetness of the jam (sugar added). You may need to adjust the sugar depends on individual sweetness in taste.
This beets and figs jam without adding pectin, so I used malt sugar to bind its thickness plus let it boil until the desired thickness. I found that added malt sugar and lime juice used as a preserving agent without adding pectin still can make homemade jam last much longer. 

Usually making homemade jam with last stage of steam the filled jar in boil water bath, is just for keeping this jam to store in longer period of consumption, but if you do not intend to keeping it for very long. Consuming it as fast as possible.
The nutrients and therapeutic healing in figs

Figs is sweet in taste, high in natural sugar of "dextrose".it is highly recommended in Chinese traditional as alternative medicine herbs. 

In cooking or making dishes in soup. Other than this Fig is great dietary foods and taking it as snack, it is rich in high fiber may help in losing weight. It contains of potassium, Vitamin A, D and calcium, Mineral substance and phosphorus, iron, copper, zinc, essential of 17 kind of amino acid content is very rich for human body. And rich in trace mineral helps to control blood pressure. How to make Figs Cough Syrup


  • 12 Fresh figs
  • 250g of brown rock sugar.
  • 2 cups of water

The preparation is quite simple:

1. Melting rock sugar with 2 cups of hot water. Set aside and let it cool.

2. Wash figs and with the bucket each fruit compressing, mix compressed fresh figs and soaks the fig with melted rock sugar water for overnight.

3. Puts in the pot, after treating the fruit to percolation syrup.

4. Bring to boil to the juice concentration in thickness form like syrup.

5. Let it cool, and keep in sterilized jar and store in refrigerator for several day then edible.

This figs fruit syrup helps in digestion trace for those with a poor appetite, effect on soothing the swollen and painful pharynx and larynx. Mainly treats the weakness of spleen and stomach, the stagnation of flow of vital energy chest to be stuffy and improve circulation.

The beetroot

Beetroot is claims a blood-building herb that detoxify the liver and renews it with minerals and natural sugars. The beets juice contains betalains (pigment of beets) may exhibit anti-cancer activity which also stimulate the function of liver cells, bile ducts and spleen. It supporting role as blood purifier for detoxifies.

Beetroot is high carbohydrates and low in fat. It contains phosphorus, fiber, vitamins A and C, niacin, folic acid, biotin, .sodium, magnesium, calcium, iron, and potassium. It has highest folic acid and in curing poor blood circulation, Anemia, constipation, piles and digestive trace system disorders.

I remember when young I got a lot of pimples on my face, irregular menstruation and pale looking complexion. My granny taught me how to cook a bloody red in color soup (beets soup with herbs) with the fresh or dried beetroot (Shu ti) to nourish the blood that cooked with Mugwort (Ai Cao) and brown sugar. Strain the soup and taking it 7 days before menstruation is due and as soon as menstruation period is over. She claimed that can help in detoxifying “blood” and purifying my pimples on face. The funny sweet taste combined with little bitterness works great as blood cleansing soup. Plus having good improvement in blood circulation with a very remarkable result at last.

But be careful do not over consumption big amount of beetroot as it will make your stools and urine turns red. It maybe harmless but make sure it is not mistaken as blood.

Lo Han Gou Olive Tea and Pickle

I got this fresh black olive from one of my friend’s farm as they are planting all sorts of organic fruits. Taking Raw Olives taste is not as good as you think. It is bitter and sour in taste.

Fresh Olive needs to be cured to get rid of the bitterness first before you can consume it. To cure Raw Olive is quite simply. A simply brine cured by just soaking Olives with salt and water. Curing refers to various preservation and flavoring processes.

We enjoying Olive pickle or preserved Olives as excellent snack by simple way of cooking it with low heat and simmer till it turns soften. Pickle it with light soy sauce and sugar marinade, it simply simple to prepare and taste wonderful!

Something that tastes so delicious after home-curing with salt. If you prefer the taste of its original taste, just add a little bit of salt to wash it before placing it into hot water and cook with salt. Or simmer in hot water for few minutes then you can consume it with the original taste of olives.


1 bowl of Raw Black Olive
2 tbs. of light soy sauce
2 tbs. of sugar
1 tbs. of salt

For curing Oliver:

2 tbs. of salt
1 tbs. of Apple cider vinegar

Cooking preparation:

1. Wash raw olive with water, lightly wash Olives to remove the white spot or discard blemishes that might have stuck to the fruit. Use salt water to cure it first.

2. Drain with water after salt-cured. Add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to soak it for 5 minutes, drain and wash with running water before cooking.

3. Bring water to boil with 1 tbs. of salt.

4. With low heat add in raw olives to boil for 5 minutes. Remove the pot from cooker and simmer it for about 10 minutes or till it’s softened.

5. Removes the water, add in
light soy sauce and sugar to pickle olives . That’s it.

6. Eat it warm or keep in refrigerator and serve cold as pickle taste better. Keeping in refrigerator and consume it within a month or two.

Olive is one of the
healing foods in traditional Chinese medicine. Taking fresh olive help in soothe mucus membranes, but it tastes bitter in raw. When cooked it also a delicious snack with healing potential.

It has highest content in calcium, high fiber, Vitamin E, Omega3 Fatty Acid. Not all fats are bad, olives have plenty of the good fats of monounsaturated fat, they are considered as stable fat that provide good protection to our body.

unique properties may control and prevention of aging process. It also increases in metabolism and help in weight lost due to monounsaturated fat of its satiating affects will ward off hunger. Moderate intake of fresh olives considered as one of the good dietary food, that actually make you feel full and help to stop the hunger signal enable you from overeat.

Olive has the medicinal benefits of preventing and helps in protect from diabetes, colon cancer, breast cancer, asthma, arthritis, atherosclerosis, heart attack and improve blood sugar levels, lowers blood pressure, treat rhumatism, hand and foot numb syndrome, it increases good cholesterol and decreases bad cholesterol. And the Vitamin E against cardiovascular disease and protect our heart. It has powerful antioxidants which neutralizes free radicals to our body and enhance our immunity system.

One of my late granny’s natural healing by using Lo Han Gou with Raw Black Olive in this formula is to treat tonsillitis, soothing sore throat and coughing. Plus help to ease constipation effectively.


10 Raw Black Olives
Lo Han Guo fruit (for diabetes)
or Rock sugar
3 bowls of water

Cooking Preparation:

1. Wash Olives with water, remove dirt and blemishes that stuck on the fruit. Soaking it with 1/2 tbs. of salt water for 1 hour, drain the salt-water and wash thoroughly with running water.

2. Use a sharp knife cut out the meat of the olive into smaller slices.

3. Bring water to boil, smash Lo Han Gou into half, add into the pot with olive pits and Olive meat to cook it for 1/2 hour.

4. Remove from induction cooker and remove the olive pits.

5. place remaining Lo Han Gou and Olives into infuser then simmer it and serve warm.

Lo Han Guo refers to the fruit of Siraitia grosvenori, used as a medicinal herb for treating cough and sore throat, acute or chronic throat inflammation.

Lo Han Guo the fruit itself, though sweet, the extracts are nearly 250 times sweeter than sugar, for diabetes can using it as a substitute for sugar and it helps in normalized blood sugar levels naturally.

Loquat Leaves Rose Petal Seaweed Mung Beans Soup

Cooking green bean soup is quite a simple nutritional dessert soup and ideal slimming dessert. Green bean (Mung beans) claims to be cooling properties and “Yin” in food categories. 

It has excellence high fiber that contains complex carbohydrate. Its high fiber improve our body's digestive function, regulates blood sugar level, usually we take green bean soup after meal help to stabilize blood sugar to prevent rapid raise in blood sugar for diabetes and better yet it is easily digested as good fasting diet.

Add barley and cook with green bean taste good and help in draining excess fluids from our body like water retention and it has diuretic effect. I like to add more pandan leaves as it helps in lower cholesterol and adds aromatic taste to the soup.

Something different to cook for Green beans soup with herbs like add in Loquat leaf ~ Pi Pa Ye in Chinese 枇杷叶, Rosebuds or petals and seaweed increased its medicinal and therapeutic healing effect,  It is fantastic skin remedy also clears up pimple and acne promotes soft skin naturally and detoxifying inner body in treating certain skin disease, rashes, edema, water retention and poor blood circulation brings many problems including the accumulation of fluids and toxins in the body. 

This formula of Rosebuds or petals, seaweed, loquat leaves, seaweed and green beans soup, is a formula of herbs preparation cook together in a pot as alternative healing soup.

How its taste? You have to try it yourself then you know. It is really refreshing and nutritious dessert soup for hot weather.

Seaweed is my favorite ingredient in natural healing and detoxify usage, it is a super food and complete food. When come to beauty in skin deep, then take Seaweed. It cures and treats various skin problems like pimples, acne, skin disease, boils, chicken pox, and dump heat rashes, seaweed added into green beans induce diuresis and eliminate dampness, for edema this diuretic soup expels excess fluids through urination, also promotes bowel movement and relief constipation, as this formula is to harmonize the stomach and clear heat. Good for obesity or as slimming diet soup mainly aim to expel excessive waste products that contributing to obesity. People with skin disease getting worst may try this herbal soup.

Rose petals or Rosebuds

It is recommended to use of dried rosebuds or rose petals into green bean soup or add with herbal preparations to improve and invigorate the circulation of blood. Dried rose petal has gentle laxative and diuretic effect which helps increasing urine outflow and to clear bowels movement. The therapeutic benefits are good for infections, particularly bladder infections and irregular menstruation. It has mild sedative and anti-depressant also offers a soothing property to the nerves. Not only that, added rosebuds or petals and brown sugar help in reducing fishy smell in seaweed. It is great combination with this aroma taste and super booster for water retention.


  • Loquat Leaves - 20g
  • Seaweed 30g
  • Green bean 30g
  • Rosebuds 10g
  • Brown sugar (approx. 80 – 100g)
  • 2 liters of water
  • add a dash of salt to balance the sweet taste. (*optional)

Cooking procedure:

1. Wash and clean beans with water, removes dirt and floating beans.

2. Soak seaweed for 10 minutes, wash and clean it then cut into small pieces.

3. Bring water to boil, put in Loquat leaves and rosebuds to cook for at least ½ hour to 40 minutes. Strain the herbal water, removes Loquat leaves and rose petals away, remaining the herbal water in pot to cook with green bean.

(Optional: you can also place loquat leaves and rose petals in herbal cooking cotton bag. Them remove herbal cooking cotton bag which containing loquat leaf and rose petal, and remaining herbal water for cooking green bean)

4. Place in green beans to the cooked herbal water in pot. Cover the lid. Bring to boil for at least 1 hour.

5. Add in brown sugar till dissolve.

6. Add in seaweed and cook for 5 minutes. Serve warm.

7. Seaweed Rosebud and green bean soup is done.

Yum.....This is super Wonderful detoxifying soup yet it's simply secret to health and longevity.
